Aquatic Therapy
Water provides a therapeutic environment for both exercise and rehabilitation offering a wide range of benefits for people suffering from a number of health conditions.
Benefits of Aquatic Therapy
Move with less pain and greater freedom in a supportive water-based environment.
Aquatic therapy reduces joint stress while allowing you to build strength, improve mobility and enhance circulation. It is particularly beneficial for those with chronic pain, injury, arthritis or mobility limitations - or simply as a low-impact exercise option, perfect for those returning to exercise.
The properties of water all contribute to different benefits on the body. The buoyancy of water reduces weight bearing stress, allowing freer and fluid movement, often with increased range of motion. Density of water creates resistance and an environment that can strengthen and tone muscles while hydrostatic pressure and temperature helps to improve circulation, decrease swelling and promote muscle relaxation.
Our team can design a personalised aquatic-based program and also offer gentle group classes suitable to rehabilitation, active ageing and general wellbeing.
Aquatic therapy is available in Tamworth and Gunnedah year round,
and in Quirindi during the Summer months.
NB: Quirindi does not have a heated pool facility.
